Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable, energetic, and customer-oriented Tour Guide to lead individuals or groups on guided tours. The successful candidate will offer insightful commentary, ensure safety and enjoyment, and represent our company professionally at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and brief guests at the beginning of tours.
- Lead engaging, informative, and entertaining tours on specified routes or destinations.
- Deliver historical, cultural, and practical information tailored to the interests of guests.
- Manage tour logistics including timing, transport coordination, and guest count.
- Handle guest questions and requests politely and informatively.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed throughout the tour.
- Assist with emergency procedures or minor incidents if they arise.
- Collect feedback and report on guest satisfaction and tour performance.
- Promote other company services and upcoming tours where appropriate.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tourist attractions, cultural sites, and local developments.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certificate or Diploma in Tourism, Hospitality, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a Tour Guide or similar role.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Swahili) is a plus.
- Excellent storytelling, communication, and public speaking skills.
- Outgoing personality with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm, organised, and friendly in high-pressure situations.
- Physically fit and willing to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid tour guiding licence or certification (if required by local regulations).
Additional Requirements
- Must be punctual and well-presented.
- Knowledge of local culture, wildlife, history, and geography.
- Basic first aid knowledge is an advantage.
